"Laughter is the most inexpensive and most effective wonder drug.” --Bertrand Russell
A good laugh changes everything!
How does Laughter work in counseling and coaching?
I am often asked how laughter works within the sometimes serious and emotionally sensitive world of counseling. My answer is - easily and very well when we are able to laugh at the problem in the moment, or later as you get a different, clearer perspective of what used to be an insurmountable problem, we end up laughing at it together.
So much of therapy is letting go of old beliefs and being willing to embrace new ones. In working with people over the last thirty years, I’ve noticed that laughter occurs naturally both as a release and as a signal that a release has occurred.
Laughter in counseling/coaching:
- Releases built up stress, anxiety and depression
- Brings objectivity and insight and most importantly a fresh perspective
- Changes your relationship with yourself
- Allows you to let go of old limiting beliefs so you can refocus and move forward toward the future you want
Individual Counseling:
-
A place to receive one-on-one attention from a Licensed Mental Health Professional who will take a personalized approach to improving your emotional well-being.
-
A safe, therapeutic environment where you will be assisted in confronting the obstacles and difficulties that have kept you from reaching your full potential.
-
You will experience inner-peace, balance, and wholeness through the resolution of your own inner conflicts.
Couples Counseling:
-
A safe environment for you to work through and discuss sensitive issues such as: emotional and sexual intimacy, destructive communication patterns, unrealistic expectations, problems with relatives, jealousy, loss of love, anger and resentment, infidelity, or financial stress.
-
Learn to listen in ways that enhance your bond, resolve conflict, overcome your anger and guilt, heal and forgive, build a stronger self-esteem, identify and meet each other's needs, and strengthen your intimate connection.
-
Learn how to communicate more effectively by developing empathic, active listening skills that help you resolve conflict in a way that meets the needs of both you and your partner.
-
Gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your partner and rekindle your communication, connection, and commitment to one another.
